Toyon Research Corporation continues its commitment to fostering the next generation of engineers by supporting the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy (DPEA). Recently, five Toyon employees had the opportunity to tour the DPEA facility, engage with senior students, and learn about their innovative final projects.
DPEA, a four-year Career Technical Education program at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California, enrolls approximately 400 students each year. The program is highly competitive, with around 170 students turned away annually due to high demand. Toyon’s team was particularly excited to learn that 50% of the current students are young women, reflecting the academy’s dedication to diversity in STEAM education.
Through a hands-on, project-based curriculum, DPEA students develop critical analytical, design, and problem-solving skills while completing three technical education pathways: Engineering Technology, Product Innovation & Design, and Machining & Forming Technologies. The academy relies on support from community partners like Toyon Research Corporation to sustain and enhance its operations.
“We had a wonderful tour of the DPEA program. Toyon is proud to support DPEA and its mission to inspire and equip the next generation of engineers in our community,” said Jennie Jacobs, Corporate Communications Manager at Toyon “The program’s impact on local students is truly remarkable, and we are honored to play a role in its continued success.”
