Toyon has made the Working with Cancer Pledge, demonstrating its dedication to providing a supportive culture and continued outstanding benefits for employees diagnosed with cancer. Working with Cancer is an initiative to create a culture of workplace support for employees with a cancer diagnosis. The pledge asks companies to make a commitment to a more supportive, recovery-forward work environment. The organization aims to eliminate the insecurity and stigma that exists for people with cancer in the workplace.
“As an employee-owned small business, Toyon has always fostered an employee-centric culture.”, shared Nicole Rivard, Toyon Director of Human Resources. “The pledge is a great way to reinforce our commitment to employees and to motivate management, supervisors, and colleagues to provide support in ways we may not have previously considered.”
Toyon was introduced to the Working with Cancer pledge by an employee whose mother was affected by a cancer diagnosis. For many Toyon employees, cancer is personal. They have faced or are facing the challenges that come with the diagnosis of a major illness affecting them or a family member. Toyon’s pledge emphasizes the commitment to providing support and understanding for employees as they work through the challenges of such a diagnosis.
